Michael graduated from Schoharie High School and later, entered Herkimer County Community College.  Following his graduation from Herkimer, he enrolled in Simmons School of Mortuary Science in Syracuse, New York.  Upon graduating from Simmons, he served his internship with the Bookhout Funeral Home in Oneonta, New York under the guidance of David H. Monroe.  He completed his internship to return to Schoharie where he purchased the former Warner Funeral Home, which had been closed for 2 years.  He later purchased his father's funeral home in Central Bridge and has operated them both since then.

     He met his wife, Julie Aikens while attending college and later married in 1984.  Michael and Julie have two children, Nathan and Justin.  Nathan is currently serving his country in the U.S. Navy as a SeaBee, Heavy Equipment Operator for Battalion 11 and Justin is attending school at Schoharie.  Michael has served as president of the Schoharie Kiwanis Club and served as Master of Schoharie Valley Lodge #491 in 1989-1990.
