Biography

Schoharie (Schoharie County): Charleen M. Lamont 68, of Sunnyside Road died peacefully Sunday, February 14th at her residence with her loving family by her side.

Charleen was born June 22, 1941 in Delanson, NY a daughter of Charles “Ed” and Lillian (Parks) Diamond, Sr. She attended Schoharie Central School and was a lifelong Schoharie resident. She worked at the Guilderland Center Nursing Home as a cook and had also worked for Coleco in Amsterdam, KPI in Howes Cave and Blue Spruce Farms in Guilderland. She enjoyed bingo, camping, bird-watching and family gatherings.

Survivors include her husband, Floyd E. Lamont, Sr. whom she married May 29, 1960, five children Tammy (Roberta Hamel) Lamont of Schoharie, Terry (Rick) Mooney of Central Bridge, Martha (Stephen) Bouck of Middleburgh, Floyd E. (Nancy) Lamont, Jr. of West Fulton, and Patrick (Sharon) Lamont of Schoharie, eleven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, three sisters, Mary “Boots” Lamont of Schoharie, Bonnie (Pete) Giesin of Blenheim and Christine Lamont of Schoharie, three brothers, Charles “Spike” (Connie) Diamond of Howes Cave, John Diamond of Warnerville, and Clifford “Skip” (Darlene) Diamond of Joliet, Illinois, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one sister, Shirley.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 17th at the Langan Funeral Home, 327 Main Street, Schoharie at 1:00PM. Calling hours will be held from 11AM to 1PM prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Old Stone Fort Cemetery.

Charleen was a special woman and one-of-a-kind. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all, even strangers. Charleen would always be the first to give to someone in need, with the touch of her hand, you felt her love and she gave you strength to carry on through the toughest times. God has received a special gift by taking her from us too soon. She will be in our hearts forever until we see her smiling face again. We will miss you, Mom, more than words can express. We love you and want to thank you for all you have given us.
