Biography

Schoharie (Schoharie County): Frank K. Stark 95, of Bridge Street died Sunday, March 7th at his residence with his family at his side.

Mr. Stark was born September 9, 1914 in New York City, a son of Stephen and Rose (Steinmacher) Stark. He has lived in Schoharie since building his home on Bridge Street in 1942. He was educated in the Fultonham and Barton Hill Schoolhouse’s and later, graduated from the General Electric Company Apprentice Program. He worked in various capacities as a farmer, machinist, truck driver, policeman, foreman at Vedder Orchards, gas station operator, Breakabeen Store operator, BOCES maintenance staff and as a mail carrier.

He was a Boy Scouts leader, member of the former St. Joseph’s R.C. Church in Schoharie, Schoharie Kiwanis Club, Schoharie Fire Department, Schoharie Little League where he managed in the major league, the Schoharie County Pistol League and the NRA. Frank was an accomplished pistol shooter and skeet shooter and also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding his motorcycle.

Survivors include his wife, Reba (Suits) Stark, five sons Ronald Stark of Castleton, Robert (Christina) Stark of Cobleskill, Richard (Cheryl) Stark of Manchester, VT, Thomas (Denise) Stark of Voorheesville and Rodney Stark of Cobleskill, ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, four nieces and nephews and eight grandnieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Stephen Stark, Jr. and Michael Stark.

Calling hours will be held from 6-8 PM on Tuesday, March 9th at the Langan Funeral Home, 327 Main Street, Schoharie. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 10th at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in the Old Stone Fort Cemetery.
