BiographySchoharie (Schoharie County): Julia Slater Mann 92, formerly of Driftwood Apartments died Sunday July 11th at the Wilkinson Residential Care Facility in Amsterdam where she had resided since last October.Julia was born June 24, 1918 in Conesville, a daughter of Jared L. and Allie (Cook) Wood. She had resided at Driftwood Apartments from 1994 until entering Wilkinson and had also resided in Central Bridge and Sarasota, Florida. She graduated from Gilboa High School and later, worked at the former Oneida Market in Middleburgh and most recently, the Grand Union in Middleburgh retiring in 1975 after many years of service. She was a member of the Schoharie United Presbyterian Church. Julia enjoyed doing handwork and was accomplished in crocheting and knitting. She was predeceased by her husband Warren C. Slater. Survivors include one daughter, Joan (Chris) Nunamann of Middleburgh and one son, Charles (Joyce) Slater of Middleburgh, Five grandchildren, Dale (Donna), Dean (Allison) and Todd (Denise) Nunamann, Denise (Patrick Mooney) Slater-Mau and Deanne Slater-Johnson, 12 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one brother Everett Wood and one sister Nina Forsell. A funeral service will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, July 14th at the Langan Funeral Home, 327 Main St. Schoharie followed by burial in the Old Stone Fort Cemetery in Schoharie. Calling hours will be held from 10AM to 11AM prior to the funeral service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
