Biography

Sloansville (Schoharie County): Rose Amelia (Ruiz) Rodriguez 80, of Route 20 died Tuesday, July 13th at the Cobleskill Regional Hospital after being stricken at home.

Rose was born April 3, 1930 in Puerto Rico a daughter of Victor Manuel and Matilda (Santiago) Ruiz and came to the United States shortly after. She was educated in New York City and moved to the upstate area in the 1950’s. She worked at the former Cobleskill Hospital as a Nurses Aide in the Maternity Ward and later worked at SUNY Cobleskill as a Nurses Aide for 21 years retiring in 1992.

She is a member of the Esperance BPO Elks Lodge #2507 auxiliary and the Timothy Murphy American Legion Post auxiliary in Middleburgh.

Survivors include her husband Raul Michael Rodriguez whom she married October 27, 1945, five children Raul (Karen) Rodriguez, Jr. of Torrance, CA, Francisco (Marge) Rodriguez of Greenwich, Rebecca Ann (Joseph) Venne of Florida, Debra Rodriguez of Schenectady and Maria E. (Michael) Rodriguez-Stanley of Esperance, 3 sisters Pricilla Ruiz, Mary Ruiz and Angela Maldanado all of Troy, 16 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Rose was predeceased by two sons Ephraim and John, one sister Gertrude “Trudy” Ruiz and one brother Victor Ruiz.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 16th from 6-8 PM at the Langan Funeral Home, 327 Main St. Schoharie. A funeral service will be held at 11AM on Saturday, July 17th at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Sloansville Valley Cemetery.
