Life Legacy


Town of Wright (Schoharie County): Gayle M. Cook 78, of Cook Road died Thursday, July 15th at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Gayle was born October 17, 1931 in Glens Falls, NY a daughter of Clyde and Ethel (Crawford) Johnson. She graduated from Saratoga High School and later, attended SUNY Cobleskill. She worked for New York State Department of Criminal Justice for many years before retiring and also drove school bus for Schoharie Central School for many years. Gayle was a member of the Schoharie Reformed Church. She enjoyed wood crafts crocheting and traveling along with being an avid Yankees fan.

She was married to Howard Cook on September 7, 1950 until his death September 2, 1995.

Survivors include six children William Cook of Wright, Donna H. (Harold) Porter of Coxsackie, Linda (Brian) Kennedy of Schoharie, Leonard (Holly) Cook of West Berne, Laura (Edward) Lefebvre of Waterford and Stephanie (Robert) Gaylor of Lawyersville, 14 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren several nieces and nephews and a longtime friend Rocco Liscio. She was predeceased by two sons Warren and David Cook.

Calling hours will be held from 6-8 PM on Monday evening, July 19th at the Langan Funeral Home, 327 Main St. Schoharie. A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, July 20th at the Schoharie Reformed Church, Main St., Schoharie. Burial will be held privately in the Old Stone Fort Cemetery in Schoharie.
